Half Case (6 Bottles) Ashton Hills 2003 Estate Pinot NoirPrice: $450.00 Ashton Hills Vineyard (Stephen George) says: "We've always cellared at least a few dozen of all of our wines to see how they develop. And now that we are using screw caps we can confidently commercially re-release the odd interesting wine without worrying that it may be suffering from some cork related problem which so often is exascerbated by time. Since bottling all of these wines have been stored at 16 deg C. Most Austalian wine is released/drunk too early and this re-release indicates how our pinot noir usually ages. While it will surely drink well for a number of years the '03 is certainly exciting at the moment. Philip White speaking of our pinots in general, (Independent Weekly, 9-15 Feb. 2008), flatteringly refers to them as "exemplary 'lightness of being' DRC models, with their paler hues and firmer acidity..." see if you think the '03 reaches such dizzy heights. P.S. This trophy winning wine was selected by James Halliday for presentation to an international wine industry group at a recent dinner at Bridgewater Mill."
