Full Case (12 Bottles) Ashton Hills 2003 THREEPrice: $360.00 Ashton Hills Vineyard (Stephen George) says: "We've always cellared at least a few dozen of all of our wines to see how they develop. And now that we are using screw caps we can confidently commercially re-release the odd interesting wine without worrying that it may be suffering from some cork related problem which so often is exascerbated by time. Since bottling all of these wines have been stored at 16 deg C. My notes on this wine's release in late 2003 read:- "Gewurztraminer (30%) adds spice to the nose, pinot gris (55%) viscosity to the palate and riesling (15%) a steely, acid backbone. The use of seasoned oak for fermentation and short term maturation completes the European tradition. Best drinking now to around 2008. Screwcapped. Anybody who in the past bought the wine for cellaring would have to be pretty happy with the above predictions. On recent tasting there's gewurztraminer all over the nose (lychee and turkish delight) plus a bit of burnt matchstick complexity. The palate is mouthfilling, fine and long and there's still ample acid to take it along with the '04 Riesling.
