Full Case (12 Bottles) Ashton Hills 2007 THREEPrice: $240.00 Ashton Hills Vineyard (Stephen George) says: "This wine is a one third blend of pinot gris, gewurztraminer and riesling and the style follows the great traditional blends of Alsace which has a climate similar to our own at Ashton. In 2007 we picked the pinot gris and gewurztraminer together and co-fermented them in seasoned French oak. Thus we were aiming at the more complex Alsatian (Pinot Gris) style rather than the stainless steel tank-fermented aromatic Italian (Pinot Grigio) style. (Pinot gris and pinot grigio are, in fact, the same variety divided, in Europe, only by a geographic border). Pinot gris and gewurztraminer are naturally low in acid so we added the more acidic riesling grape to the blend to ensure its serious affinity with food. Drink the 2007 this summer to enjoy its fresher, leaner Italian incarnatiion or cellar while the more complex, fuller, Alsatian style emerges. Look for this wine next time you're flying Malaysia Airlines."
